Today’s episode offers a bit of perspective and a lot of insight for anyone seeking long-term success.
Success in business is spelled M-O-R-E: better results, faster growth, more revenue, greater efficiency.
Do more. Make more. Achieve more.
And do it now. Eventually, ambition turns to stress, then to frenzy, then to emptiness as once-ambitious workers endlessly trudge the hamster wheel chasing the next promotion.
While top-level performance is the holy grail of business at all levels, there is another, much better way to achieve it: slow down.
Yes, you read that right–S-L-O-W. This is your permission to jump off of the hamster wheel.
Slowing down is not a luxury, it is a necessity. A frenetic brain simply doesn’t perform at optimal levels. By maintaining a snail’s pace, you actually achieve better results–at rocket speed–because you’re firing on all cylinders. You’ll think of new things, approach old problems from new perspectives, and breathe a breath of fresh air into everything you do. This book shows you how to achieve this state of steady, sustainable fire and how to get further by crawling than you ever did while attempting to fly.
Learn how slowing down can lead to better, faster results
Achieve optimal performance thought patterns
Enhance your creativity and effectiveness
Build energy, revenue, and good health in a self-sustaining way
You know you’re capable of more, but the stress is eating away at your body, your brain, and your soul. Relax, take a deep breath, and buckle down. Clear your mind and then put it to work. Stop juggling and start doing. Master Your Mind shows you how to supercharge your trajectory by taking it S-L-O-W.

Today’s episode offers a bit of perspective on a lot of insight for anyone seeking long term success success in business spelled m. or a.
Better results faster growth for revenue greater efficiency do more make more achieve more.
Events near bishan towards distress then turns to frenzy then turns to emptiness.
Let’s go and some bushes workers endlessly trojans well chasing the next promotion will the top level performance is the holy grail of business at all levels there is another much better way to achieve a slow down,
yes you heard that rice s l o w is your permission to jump off the hamster wheel no.
[1:00] Slowing down is not audrey it’s a necessity of rain simply doesn’t perform an optimal levels,
what maintaining a snails place to actually achieve better results iraq its speed because you’re flying on all cylinders,
do you think of new things approach of problems from your perspective and breathe fresh breath of air into everything you do.
Facebook shows you how to achieve this state of study sustainable fire and had to get further by crawling then you ever date what you are attempting to fly.
We will come on answer,
master your mind can go strategies to focus and re energized runaway brian rogers side welcome to the show it’s awesome to be here to help me on what to think about beautiful trauma and pain,
the solid gold circle logo let’s jump into i mentioned at the idea of slowing down,
this book was colonized by this idea that you had a realization when you were.
[1:56] Going faster or u really slowing down would actually make you go faster when you’re past in the marathon,
it actually wasn’t even a marathon aiden it was just it was just a morning rhonda,
i have run a couple marathons but the incident that your describing that i read about in the blog.
Actually just happened on all morning when i was out but really the foundation for this particular working title is the whole idea was this idea that thing that you’re talking about
happened when i was in the middle of of i would call it almost like a laboratory experiment,
and slowing down to get faster i didn’t really realize i wasn’t even in until.
[2:43] I was almost all the way through i am a runner
i like being physically fit person and either marathons i had been a distance learning for a while which is a special challenge for me i’m not really built for distance running
and so what my head but man long term with my pattern headband is that i would train hard,
and i would get faster and get better but that i would injure myself
can i have this cycle going on three years of where i would really enjoyed running and working out and then i would be
not able to do it all for several months and so i actually realized i get to do something a little different here because this is just not sustainable.
And so i started learning
about how to get started learning about any of your listeners probably do start learning about things like keto and about
just how to use fat as you when your running late this is all about athletics in high performance and life
and then one of the things that i came across was this low concept learning how to train a row legally i’m not gonna get no lo black toner bulls science of what that means but it basically means that you
you do what you do run bike swim whatever you do and do it anyway that keeps your heart rate below what’s called aerobic threshold.
[4:08] Where is your branding instead of sugar your burning fat instead of sugar to steal your new workout will think about it is just that to do it
you have to run are you have to run payne polly slow it to keep my heart rate low enough what ive had to do
is take my eight minute mile,
down to literally like a twelve minute mile and i feel like i just embarrassed to be out running but i like okay you know what science backs this up i’ll give that a try
and i did not there was working did not use working out of state pretty impatient with it for a couple months and then i had this morning was out for a run trying to keep my heart rate down some,
yeah yeah long slow and i just cant pass by people on the trail and am.
[4:57] Rate a minimum competitive person right so i get passed around like it kind of fires me up a little bit so the first guy runs by me,
like i said no problems like wearing i get university track team shirt clearly is an actual like competitive runner six or runs like a dessert called u and i was like ok
no problem like back at passing me problems and then i’m about five minutes later this lovely young woman,
pasame up again to confirm i just passed be in lick wit could pass again.
Ok i get off of it young person and general fabric twenty years younger than may or whatever and then about ten minutes later i hear footsteps behind me and i look past me and it no joking maybe its a florida half-blood.
Grandma shoes blue gym at least seventy five to eighty years old and she just kinda goes running by me
pats me on the back and goes
you keep it up sunday i will join on the line but i bet he okay well can i check
so let’s just set aside how ridiculous it is that i’m thinking i’m in a race one i’m basically just,
how to bypass but i did i kind of had this moment where i wanted
alright is this even working this whole slowing down is it actually working.
[6:21] When i found out that it really was right i had intentionally for a couple months i have been running.
Much slower than i was accustomed to.
[6:30] Open pretty rigorous about this training method and i haven’t tested myself at all and so i wanted me to see if this is actually working and.
Seriously reading what i actually did a test of speed up my prescribed heart rate.
No a period of a couple months my mile time hed drop by but two minutes.
Like i was substantially faster from going slower can i wear while that doesn’t make any sense at all.
[7:03] What’s all of these things that i always lessons that i had learned in sales and business and mentors of mine.
You know that it talk me about seeing like slowing your rate of speed down sometimes and a presentation.
Oh you know taking time out to reflect i want know this is actually a life of principle.
If you wanna get results faster.
You have to have the discipline to just slow yourself down strategically,
and sometimes you have to have the discipline to just stop entirely and do not look around i got this was a great way to start the book because.
[7:47] Is it cold because so many said that every act of creation is first inactive destruction and why i mentioned that is.
If you think about we finish college we going to the workforce i’m not seeing many of us but,
learn how to learn we don’t learn how to work we don’t learn how to work effectively we may pick up in the nice that hundred here are there but maybe pickup not so positive habits.
And what i loved about here is your talking with you like break it down.
And then build the back up again can you give the ingredients of how to build a backup so let’s jump into the book because
you did a brilliant job of bringing all the parts together all the bits UD constructed and then become like you build back up again and i got him where make me get rid have to say hayden,
you make me feel really good,
how about this i love the book too and its done well we gotta feeling but i really appreciate the depth of your understanding about the google play your mother really enjoyed us and i’d love to bring a ten for less than what you say in the book
to the reader is when you’re reading this on as you listen to the system.
[8:53] Trying pick up some small parts that you can implement it right away i m the reason you say that is when you do that when you make that intentional,
u like you weigh more likely to actually put into place so i’m gonna call at eight nine one park that’s ok so i’m asking to list him to do that because there’s so much in this,
let’s jump back into part one of the book you say.
[9:13] Let’s understand excels little better let’s break down the light breaks take it apart,
i need to talk particularly about the brain you start with a description of what you mean by slowing down,
i’m the cure for what you called the comments go right so we talked about the cure for the common go understanding of your listener base is nice for people who are results oriented who hell.
Careers that they are excited about motivated about moving forward not imagine that a lot of them operate high pressure environments.
[9:48] And so.
Did the common response to that is that people just default to okay i just got to work more i’m gonna put in more in i’m gonna get wanna go to beat the competition.
If i get the promotion meet the quota and make the sale whatever i just gotta work harder which you know what
that works up to a point right one somebody is new in it we work with a lot of life financial advisors sales professionals and people who are actually in the in the professional building some kind of book of business listen when you’re doing that is if you
if you actually start a startup for example.
Yes there is a threshold of effort that needs to be met right u cant just go i’m just gonna surrounded meditate.
Changing bags of money will fall out of the sky like you gotta work once a person reaches the threshold of edwards.
[10:53] Which typically looks like a full time job forty maybe fifty hours a week.
[11:00] What’s your name are the math just breaks.
You can’t get where you want to go by just putting in more hours right i mean if you’re working forty hours ok are you ok everything else is equal let me just double the number of hours that i work.
And let’s go to eighty you don’t you might have an RV meds for okay double my results except you can only do that once because of you double it again,
will guess what we totally gotta hundred sixty eight hours and its so you just can’t do it very often.
[11:33] That’s not actually how life works.
What happens is when you just increase the volume of birds or how are you running.
[11:44] It pretty quickly beat the quality of your work will change and black mike fall off a cliff so what we founder’s this whole everybody talks about working smarter not harder.
[11:57] And so what we really have to do if you have to learn how to just get your hours in.
You have to learn to get more quality into those hours and you see this,
what probably lovely people that you interviewed on the show what would talk about this when you see this with the most successful most you know effective co leaders producers.
Is if you talk to them NFL let un little bit.
You’ll see where their all habits a little going away on retreat’s for a couple days.
What time is the year,
bill gates is famous for talking about how he would get himself we get a time to do nothing but just think you see how people have to things building their day like meditation reflection
planing strategies in all things you cannot do if your running you have to stop and slow down.
Schedule them so yeah life and in business.
Its it’s not just about going all the time it’s about going light speed or better.
[13:18] Bursts that sort of um.
Can she waited by times where a person just stops slows down look around things recharges.
[13:31] And sort of read energizer for another burst of lighting speed to mention their bill gates dimensional analysis is for people,
not all of us are like that so u help with dinos sound new post some questions in the book of your posts just to get on road again thinking.
Is this you and why are you this in particular is to go and diagnosed the runway with all of us,
lights and people like you talking about my runaway bride do i actually have a run away break most people what i am speaking with barbara coaching them they dont really need to ask diagnostic questions they just kinda go oh yeah i just know i am i just i just know i do but if you’re wondering
album write some questions that i would ask you okay have you ever.
[14:17] Had the experience where you met somebody.
For the first time business or recreational study met this person u ship your hand got their name and then like five seconds later it could remember their name.
Yes robert okay this is the only everybody has had that experience and if you’ve ever had that experience of shared embarrassing it’s it’s stressful but i can be a little bit awkward.
What happens because your brain train away for a few minutes just left right you are always on something else if you’ve ever had the experience where you were reading something.
Again business or just for pleasure reading something got to the end of the page.
And then realize that your mind had been elsewhere and you had no idea which reading for the previous few minutes brain.
I am addicted so those things again will need to get in to all of the nerdy science on it but like those two experiences will talk about all that time was quiet,
the name thing in the reading thing really all the artist just bring things like those two experiences are just manifestation of the same kind of
wire ring in your brain and that wiring.
[15:30] That causes the name thing in the reading thing that happened.
Continuously a lot of people will also creates what i think it started the central problem i. just call if it’s an experience i call having bad days and it’s the day where you okay you show up at work.
And you were really really hard all day long lease if like you work really really hard all day long,
to the point where are the end of the business day and your work day,
you found the just outta gas u had nothing really had no time and energy left for the people and the things that matter most outside of work.
[16:09] And then we’re gonna get real honest yes.
[16:15] Embarrassingly common for people and then having day like that with a man i feel like i worked my shout.
White put the new look back on what.
What happened during that workday.
[16:33] And if there honest they have to go back like i just want my wheels of work my brains out.
[16:44] What did i actually accomplished a real impact and the answer often leaves people.
Open the play to write some dance your question what questions if a person has ever experienced any of those things.
I would tell you that you’ve definitely experienced the cold and quote runaway bring in ways that.
[17:11] Are simple to fix and you would benefit a ton,
turn the dressing gluten-free got into a little bit more seven inch apple to go more into the subconscious mind in the difference between conscious and subconscious is
i love this chapter meant its limits my it was my favorite chapter to write it’s like myob you like favorite thing to talk about i really wanna focus on this what i really love to get across is this
it’s a lens through which you change IVC the world actually if you get this right a really reduced any you can really help program yourself.
This chapter in the next chapter on the brain what is the different brand states we go through i’d love to really focus on that not seems to be your mode of accident with jen of grace so,
let’s introduce the technology of the antonym of not think this perfectly and calculated it for me to win to be clear i did not come up with this idea
my credit messed percent day in the books he wrote a book when was box to take an hour and a half to read but it’s just a super easy it’s actually a
it’s almost written like a children’s its a business fable is what i wanna call beyonce and the elephant.
I would recommend it for anybody is listening to this show when i give it kind of a cliff notes version.
[18:24] The book is basically about this and that the main character in the in the book is and and and,
he has this experience where there’s a big storm and he gets like blown away from this colony has like this,
dark night of the soul is isolated from everything that you know isn’t he started reflecting on the quality of life any realizes he doesn’t really enjoy his life isn’t dance very much right now i was like man.
I don’t suppose to work hard all summer to have food in the winter,
you know it seems like it is actually kind of in a place of scarcity i purchased isn’t enough so what happens,
working working working all the time and never get to really see the fruits of it and pretty frustrated with that and,
its it’s technically leadership books of this and he’s a supervisor ants in his comedy
add so i was like you hadn’t even opened like a very good leader and he talked rudely the real issue here is that i feel like
i just feel like my life is supposed to be much bigger and more prosperous than one meaning full and more connected to i just don’t know how to get there we go,
can i get alarm stopwatch.
[19:33] This conversation of the yankees happy with themself is overheard by the end of the wise old sword flies over and says hey mr extremely frustrated with yourself
and the most frustrated that i want breaking what i’m supposed to know work hard all summer to have food in the winter but it never works that way so just working all the time
frustrated with my life and i feel like i am supposed to have a big are more bonded more prosperous what meetings but i just don’t know how to get there,
en el status,
that’s what i thought you were gonna stay there some good news and some bad news and there some good here
and goes your slut the good news is that you definitely can have this life that you’re talking about what you’re talking about is like that used that sort of been dreaming about is in fact possible
what not where you are currently you’re gonna need to get to the oasis
there’s this place called the oasis her my father was commit the album don’t reply i’m not in when you are there that’s resources and plenty of food in their flood water all the other cool animals are hanging out there so it’s great for networking,
so which you know but you say you gonna need to get to the oh so good news is that you can do that where’s the badge.
You can’t see this mystery dance.
Still be out talking mr i can’t see this because of your aunt perspective but i can see this.
You’re real problem.
[20:58] Is the new lil on the back of an elephant restaurant.
[21:07] In fact your whole colony can you play with your hole life has existed on the back of animal friends.
[21:15] And the ads going oh okay so.
And so here goes here’s the alice here spirits the bad news this way that you want to get too it’s not that far away.
Its due east of hear a problem that you’ve got restaurant is that this elephant that you live on.
[21:38] Currently is walking west.
And because of some things that happened to this URL of an when it was a baby elephant.
It has a tendency to walk in any direction except towards the oasis.
[21:56] Select pause pause the cliff notes here for a second.
Please look at the physics of this year you probably figured this out by now listeners that’s,
what the book is actually about isabelle isabelle the relationship between your conscious brandon,
and your subconscious spring you want to aid we can get the how we all have to please dude i think this is brilliant way you describe the opt in.
Yeah you actually you me everybody you have to bring some southern us understand some authors i really like that will you have a store or six brains but let’s just stick with the brand your head for right now definitely hav two brands,
get me concentrate on yourself conscious spring comp just ran out of his apartment uws with awareness the self conscious brain is the part that doesn’t explain without you trying without even knowing,
and the subconscious brain is vastly practical purposes the subcontractor is infinitely to larger.
And from just a straight for our perspective when it comes to actually getting results what did anthony elephant is really all about it’s about the relationship between your conscious and subconscious brain.
Concerts brand represented by and small and kind of whiny ass.
[23:24] Subconscious brain represented by your elephant big and powerful and very simple and it’s thinking we’ll get to that in just a second you’re so get back to the story
realize this i live on the back when i was spend this elephant walking in the opposite direction from where i actually want to get to.
And it and just get the picture in your head.
The deal has that its success getting to the oasis is not about the ant running faster.
[23:57] It’s about getting butt elephant to move in the right direction and so that goes what was mr oh what are you saying i do like i live on the back when i was walking away from where i wanna get to,
are you telling me that i am never going to get to the us.
And the hours says no listen i said that’s good name he said ur bad news and i said there’s good news and it back it’s really good news.
The bad news is you live on this huge powerful bc it’s taking you away from where you want to get super good news is.
Get out of all the creatures in the jungle master and aunts like yourself are best equipped to talk to elephants.
[24:42] And so you can talk if you can just learn how to talk to you were hella bands in the way that he can understand.
[24:53] You can definitely get your elephant turn around and really good news about that is.
[25:00] If you can get your husband moving in the right direction was not moving towards is this you know what mr need you can pretty much screwed up everything else can i get there i love the speakers.
U described it so well and i love of you did this next exercise because you say the language of the subconscious is pictures so what we imagined this is why the idea of vision boards and having a vision in the first place you say that.
Flowers your vision is so important.
Because the subconscious is like a pre schooler doesn’t understand registered the word no so if i go i don’t want to be sick and goes okay you won’t be sick of find ways first,
and this is really important you bring it to life we can do this problem because it audio,
the fake lemon exercise let’s do this for list yo are ok so the background is the point of the exercise is dead you just set it but i want to make sure our listeners are getting there.
[26:02] There’s a language different language barrier between your conscious in your subconscious is obviously a huge size difference is we just discuss but there’s also the language difference,
are any of your concerts brand
thanks like we think thinking things logically it use it understands consequences in things like if than thinking your spend is totally not like that
it is purely visual clearly bagel all year lol you’re still concentrating because it’s east pictures.
Move towards them if you want to think about it like an actual elephant no joke a what your elephant does it receives instruction or it sees a picture and it goes okay good oh good morning,
i need cats to work on it like instantaneously so here’s how to invite our listeners to do this was an exercise that was gosh i had this i learned this.
When was my greatest mentors of all time it warm in like twenty five years ago without what x is equal to use our listeners to do what you can do this right now to even if you’ve done it before it still works so in your eyes open your eyes closed.
[27:10] What in your mind i just want i want you to just picture a lemon can get a good clear picture of what color is it i miss lights yellow,
i really get a good picture that lemons to the ball be waxing po on the two nd circuit nabi things on the end and were you holding your hand to feel the weight.
No i take this lemon in your eyes i set it down a wooden cutting board taking a sharp knife and cut it in half right down the middle and look at the inside of it.
[27:40] You see l like that i should say men state like to see it half right there’s like to see that you’re looking at,
can i have any yellow juice dripping down the back your right to take that lemon
hold it going alice just smell it smell good clean lemonade received smell.
I know but i like you doing mine size open email show that happen lemon in your mouth is right down not taste that sour lemon juice and that peter can i go to.
[28:10] Okay exercises now for sure right cause and.
So it’s funny to watch people do you like what i can do this with the group in person it’s funny to watch the reaction.
[28:26] Why i would both reading that any import listeners that just did that even if they did it kinda half way.
[28:34] Right now what they’re doing is they are swallowing amount of saliva cause your mouth just started watering.
Many of them their face ten stop.
how you like it actually tasted and smelled bad sour lemon juice and that bitch scratched up your face and lot of people they’re show results and stuff do you want to talk about VR,
what i have to leave now i want the exercise every time everytime you knew what was coming at them here here is the reason why it’s because.
[29:07] Uber elevate your subconscious brain literally it seems pictures.
[29:15] Enable cause you.
[29:18] Choose who act like that picture is real even if it’s not.
[29:27] Your hello fresh blue cannot tell the difference between reality and vividly imagine picture.
Which means that the application of this you mentioned this is well.
The single biggest thing that i thought she can do better business person can anybody who is interested in the results of any kind.
The single biggest thing that you can do to starting moving yourself towards them effortlessly.
[29:57] Upgrade your clarity.
[30:00] About what that picture looks like for you.
Clear the picture in your mind of what you want and then why you want that.
What is the biggest thing that starts moving towards them in ways that sometimes i litteraly almost feel like magic.
Because when you’re elephant proceeds that picture of the first time two make six figures where when you become a millionaire or when your company achieve certain goals or when you lose twenty pounds i’m getting the best shape of your life.
When your elephant can see that picture and go okay i’ll get that for you it is amazing how quickly things happen you also mentioned something controlling the whole thing i do yeah.
The whole thing about how to get that you mentioned about how your subconscious doesn’t register the word no.
[30:50] Use key to understanding this is this was mind blowing to me when i learned that i have so many my clients that are like wow this explains so much.
Right the third thing that you really want to know about your elephant number one size difference too thanks and pictures of three doesn’t register the word no.
[31:09] You’re all of it literally does not it’s not that doesn’t understand the word now it just doesn’t register it at all and the examples that i could use with peoples do you think about a kid you think about like a toddler,
what toddler preschool by the best example of this you take a three or four year old kid and if you tell that kid not to do something.
[31:29] I don’t know if you have children or not,
what do i have two boys nine and six and since you tell me about this i don’t know much have that isn’t a mimosa and so far that’s great and it’s so good tell a kid
love that you tell your sick your sick year old is starting to get it probably a little bit better but when your kids were four five.
[31:50] Could you tell that kid not to do something what was gonna happen immediately.
What did you do the exact thing that you just told them not to do and say my kid would special my youngest like notorious for this and what it felt like hey buddy don’t run out on the street and red plaid size eight don’t run out of the street
immediately he is right around the street and what it felt like to me as dad was it felt like he was looking at me,
hearing me say dont run outta the street if like you was processing that looking me in the eyes and going,
screw that i’m ready whenever you want you can put it like we’re having a flight,
your not having a flight here what’s going on with young children.
[32:32] That’s the part of the brain that governs conscious thinking.
The ant part of the brain doesn’t actually start developing a human being until around the age six or seven.
[32:44] And so what that means is aiden when your kids or forward five literally didn’t have an ounce,
i didn’t have the part of the brain that can understand logic and reasoning and consequences it just saw pictures it just all little kids have is an elephant.
And i was literally doesn’t register the word no so when i would say to my kids hey don’t write on the street what is little brain perceive was running in the street.
And all that but no saturday was go st okay go get that boy and starts moving to florida st like in the road
this reminds me of a quote in its tribute to different people are at the brazen bull adults with u with max and give me a child until he is seven,
unable to use them and what i take from my babies you can program somebody in those early years because of this because the elephant is running the show so therefore
we need to be so bloody important,
how we talk to childrens influence them to have a meeting with them because they learn from seeing and learning from pictures so therefore this information we feed them,
is very important when you just help me make this connection because i young child doesn’t have.
That conscious that can just bring them and that logic part of us.
One of the things that does is it filters information.
[34:14] And doesn’t have a filter right so when you’re working with a child.
That only has an elephant but only has the sub conscious in public goes in on filter.
And sort of an adult rated and so it downloads all the way right this is why you never heard that jazz but maxim before but it really makes sense salmon the one to program kids you know when.
We had bruce left on the shelves before easter founder of the idea of the genetics were purpose can control the outcome of your life possibly i need to talk to both marcel live at soup contest programming but i just think.
If everybody knew how important this is to be very careful white electric kids read what u like to watch your left arm hurting about the idea of,
you know you are some of the people are at most because you absorb all the information right for a purpose here today i’ll bring it back two adults for just a moment here,
because the deal with kids the way that you turn that around go back to talking about before but how
when you tell a kid not to do something there gonna do it because that’s all they’re brand knows how to do the reason that word i think for your listeners,
aiden the reason that we’re even talking about kids next match.
[35:36] Is because as business people were actually not that much different from a four year old kid.
[35:44] Show we now have any dance that’s can help guide and filter and make decisions.
What date is still riding on top of an elephant it’s still is your elephant yourself conscious that carries all the horsepower of forward movement.
[36:05] And that still doesn’t register the word no so what why would,
if i was coaching our listeners i would say that one of the biggest things that you can do for yourself is to stop focusing on what you don’t want.
So many people trying to identify hey i wanna avoid this obstacle are and i dont want to end up in love that you don’t want to end up on the street find identify that actually help me to identify that we got to stop focusing on most things,
it’s a bee you start learning to this book four that’s right one people coming ok so you don’t wanna be late for this deadline.
Just think about that for a second you said i don’t want to be late for the deadline elephant goes elephant here’s.
Every part of that except that don’t have shit,
you said i don’t want to be late for the deadline elephant here is late for the deadline to go slave for the deadline to get that working.
Somebody goes no i don’t want to be i dont want to be broke.
[37:08] Elephant ears i want to be broke and goes broke okay i’ll get it yet yet i guess
maybe to put this part two bed one that maybe the last thing that you want to understand about the elephant is that it going to really write about this in the book very much but it’s important to understand that you’re self conscious,
doesn’t judge the pictures it doesn’t value wait the pictures that it’s using the instructions that i received.
[37:34] It just accept it doesn’t know and doesn’t want to middle east countries doesn’t even think about it is this actually where i want to go.
It just says the picture and goes to write do whatever you tell to do.
So be careful get and give your kids positive instructions i found that work way better when i started telling my kid what to do instead of what not to do and mend our coaching clients are the same way.
Make sure you’re focusing your mind on what you want instead of what you don’t want.
Just stop worrying about stuff so much does maxima she wants which is worrying is praying for what you do not want
exactly right now could you just bring it into existence that becomes your focus then reverse let’s move on cuz you gonna write a time in the sun watching them were not feeling very uncooperative and will the next idea remind me of how to replace habits,
do not service and not the way they say the best way to replace how to create a new one to replace that.
I’m you say the elephant that some can just kinda on see a picture,
what are you can replace a picture with the new one i think this is a really important concept for those who,
you there already been programmed you can override the program you can i learn this from bob charles do eggs work the power of habit
i thought this was fantastic what you talked about you every have at the house.
[39:00] Has the corresponding sort of neural pathway wiring in our brain and what’s that wiring is laid down it will be there it will be there.
Some sort of state and basically forever.
[39:14] You can’t just eat you can’t just leaving behind his little early why did your brain what you can do you can layer a new habit of it right and it requires,
a consistent will course requires some discipline for a consistent.
Pattern activity or thoughts for a period of time and so you know that you know there’s so much to be about
how long does it take to form a habit everybody seems to know takes twenty one days to form a habit
and what i am learning is that that sort of a minimum gonna take at least twenty one days to begin forming a new habit so this require login discipline
play some the easiest way and the fastest way to do it.
[40:03] Set it to cannabis stab new program,
in practical terms i found is tim number one make sure that you understand how your brain.
Actually operates especially at certain times of the day so he wanted me to come to talk a little bit about what’s in the
i didn’t the second chapter about brain patterns in it,
do people know that’s great to be a good review but this is this is probably the piece of work did
the blues people’s minds the most when you start learning about how your brain actually slows down and slowing down
when you’re reading it slower states,
what is actually wear it allows you to get results the fastest so right all introduce our listeners to what i called the fraternity of beta alpha zeta delta or so
if you study what are called brain wave pattern by the way
brain waves at this is not like psycho bobble mambo jambo you your brain,
yes actually both the transmitter and receiver of electromagnetic vibration.
[41:15] Red someone hear all the happiness will people talk about you know the law of attraction in your vibration all state,
i should be making you move your cats today five shows with donna.
No i don’t have it right now you’re not very you support of others i no longer i’m extremely supportive evidence of active you read the book to understand that i am not here i’m i’m actually kind of making fun of the people who is that
like people sometimes have this tendency to go a hey baby touch you feel you will you don’t talk to me about the attraction no i’m by big butt that stop yoyo man your brain is legitimately
the transmitter and receiver will be electromagnetic vibration.
[42:02] It operates just like a radio right like when you tune your radio into a certain frequency of god heard your whatever it is you got a difference.
You get different outlets right you turn your radio to one station get country music.
Move over to another station two diamond different frequency get hip hop
can you bring the city of way different frequencies it does different things right so kind of an order from you know highest and fastest vibration the lowest i’ll just give the quick version of the year,
your brain is operating is easy,
vibrating added highest in fastest rate there’s what’s called a brain waves this is how you run through most of your day
the highest frequency but lowest amplitude brain waves in your branches in a predominantly been the state it’s because it’s got a training that we need to do about it because this is how you sorrel
move through your dad’s associate with alert necklace with being awake it’s notice the highest state so you feel the most like alert awake and energetic when you got beta waves going on.
end that you spend the majority of the waking hours in the in the beta brain waves state police drop down level talk about the alpha brain waves state if you look at it on garage,
what you would see is that the brain wave pattern
is lower lower frequency,
what is the hiring amplitude each way is it sort of stronger carries more force behind it,
you find that you your brain is gonna naturally,
transition through a predominantly alpha brain wave pattern two times per day.
It’s gonna happen within the first fifteen to thirty minutes but you’re awake in the morning.
[44:01] And then it’s gonna happen again is winding down to go to sleep at night because of the key indicators that you’re experiencing an alpha pattern.
Is that your deeply relaxed right not more so than just like you’re dumb your your normal state of relaxation when you.
[44:21] Ya when you’re like when you know when you will you get up in the morning.
[44:25] Can you add of bed but you’re not like quite all there yet yeah.
Are you still kinda your joints are still may be a little bit cranky your brains still little sister you’re still in the waking up process
hmm anything about the winter in that state.
Is the the alpha brain wave pattern is strongly associated with learning.
Mental and memory and recall like you remember stuff better and stuff federer
when your brain is in an estate when you’re more relaxed memory training workshops that we talked for twenty years
what are the biggest things that we teach is that stresses the number one killer of your memory because stress when it does is speeds up your heart rate speeds up your brain waves
and when you’re brain waves get to fast
it makes it much harder to remember stop right like if you never go back to the thing about remembering people’s names
computer been in this spot not the spot were you met somebody and then five seconds later you cant remember their name but ive ever been in the spot where do you live,
bumped into somebody in the grocery store and you knew that you knew them and they were going hey switch to see you,
are you going hey bigger picture
stop stop tell me my secrets i can never get my gosh add anything ever been asked,
what were you like having discount your having this nice polite conversation with this person.
[45:51] Hey how’s the family house work etc etc how’s that been going but the whole time you’re talking to them your brain is like a million miles and hour going what’s your name what’s your name what’s your name within my talking shit here,
will it make like a little experiment that exists because ultimately happen there is that you wont remember the persons name,
wilder standing in front of you but you will remember it later.
[46:20] Right like it’ll come to you as soon as they leave or like let me know maybe like you’re falling asleep that night sometime after the incident
it’s like this little voice in your head goes through the want the name and you like naps too but i need a twenty minutes ago hello friend it’s kinda your name now you like better note
do face i need it ten minutes ago i could you can call the guy names bob is not impressed that point so the point is the reason why that happens is because you relaxed
you actually took a brad your brain waves slow down drop down into alpha orange and bass were you able to remember things but the key is
this is what we are we teach our clients in many ways to just relax the way to success when you’re high stakes high pressure situation
confrontation all need anything like a company thing that looks like a confrontation or where your anxiety level is coming up you will perform much better if you simply take a deep breath,
that sounds like so like i’m just your mom taking a breath slightly delayed.
Will it it’s one of the most effective um what are the most effective performance enhancing techniques is just to reuse just.
[47:36] Read it slows you down in ways that you get where you wanna go much faster in those moments where we get the deadline,
i may be writing a paper you need to scan and email me gotsis get this e-mail as you yourself sometimes we have been taking a breath
it’s important to know the offset as well and then when you’re in those states you have high levels of carbon dioxide you buddy,
am i taking the oxygen you release that again and change your brain state i think
it’s important when people notice on the other thing i want to do just to connect the dots roger is.
[48:07] We have any attachments and coming and next week’s show and she is the mother of this concept called psychological safety i want to leave this organization when there’s less stress and people are all on the same level.
Hey pink better than they make better decisions,
more logical decisions more better long-term decisions etc etc i’m a lot of innovation.
Failures because people are afraid to speak up and not state of not thinking straight essentially i think.
Thats what i love about your work you’re talking about the individual new coach individuals high level business people and others,
take be able to manage that stress themselves because there’s two levels higher than the individual and then there’s the organization which is a collection of individual stats want to show that in the options made me think of one of my favorite quotes ever john wooden loop.
Widely recognized is possibly the greatest coach of all time.
[49:01] What is famous for saying.
[49:04] Move quickly don’t hurry when you try and hurry it creates tension which actually slows you down.
Alpha stage strongly associated with learning comes out come back to the idea when that happens in the morning
can just application coming here let’s finish out the discussion here about the bud bring my pet to the next one down the next slowest but strongest one is what we call is it was known as the state of brain wave pattern in the city can make some magic happen again
lower frequency so slow that even alpha bigger waves so stronger than alpha
you only really experienced brief moments in the state of brain wave pattern typically
the way that you can kind of know and we can i call the border line stated right on the border line between being asleep and awake and i like working right away when you wake up in the morning
first thing when your eyes open.
You’re technically awake but you’re kind of not sure if you’re awake rightly get some good the rape of state to state a little twilight zone ii
you’re not sure it feel like maybe im still dreaming,
what city am i in a little it’s a little weird but here’s the cool thing about data.
Brain waves state is there when your brain is in a state to state.
[50:23] You would have direct access to your subconscious brain.
[50:31] What it means is your elephant ear elephant listening very closely with no filter.
[50:40] That’s not a part of your brain hasn’t caught up yet,
you got this window when your state and there’s a lot of great stuff with good written and recorded about how to use the state a state of tryna keep it simple here
whatever goes in whenever in public goes into your brain in those moments understand it goes in filtered and download directly into your subconscious
you will carry that include with you.
All day long whether you want to or not answer this is y.
[51:20] You hear so much talk and so many of the religion,
high performance people have systems that they eat each and implement,
winning the morning the reason why i dont care who are you who you talk to read the miracle morning are you listening to us whoever put whatever it is that you want to listen to it’s about high performance
you’re all gonna talk to you about winning your morning starting your day off right it’s because the first couple minutes of your day you had that window where you’re inside a
which typically only the first like thirty seconds to maybe couple minutes.
That your awake in the morning and then it happens again for a few seconds while you’re falling asleep at night you can influence those moments interview can influence those moments your brain works on auto pilot.
[52:14] All day long which is why i have this some people think this is super corny and weird but i have developed this habit was ruled in my head at my first sales job,
wake up in the morning and is soon as your eyes pop open i said,
this is gonna be great day i think this is important do you say that’s okay as well it’s so important because.
When we wake up uh nervous news it’s a start thinking about the problems of the day i had.
Flip so i could use a in the morning between nine to twelve in the evening because again your back and then wave your program yourself go on.
We’re running about the things that you did today the mistakes you made,
wraps all the worries in that you have wronged them actually.
[52:57] Focus on the visions that you have under clarity of purpose that you have but first you have to do that work so to try that because we’re the time but i want to get our license to get the most out of this possible yeah starting finish your day like
it’s going ok what do i do with that shit on roger my life is such,
that you know i work in same number of hours an i m okay with that im legitimately only have like 5 seconds of day
to make my life better i can tell you exactly which five seconds of focus on
it would be the first five seconds of your day and if you can just simply declare she can develop the discipline or some kinda system to wake up in the morning and actually saying or atleast think
something good and positive.
Do you carry with you all day long because that that whole thing that we talked about before about where your elephant goes okay i’ll get that for you.
[53:53] Is powerful and you get that reaction strongest right when you wake up in the morning so yeah i wake up in the morning and i say it’s gonna be great.
[54:03] And the reason i though that’s because i know my elephant and filter here’s that it goes great day okay i’ll get that for you and have a great day is all the time also tell you that if a person wakes up in the morning.
And goes ohhh god this is gonna suck.
What happens there is your elephant goes gonna suck good i’ll get that for you.
[54:31] It can be overcome right but you got like it’s a start you got work to do today yourself out of that hole.
When you start your diet you know when you start your day and go be a great day and your elephant goes great day alright let’s do it.
Will tell you that,
the rest of the worlds got some work to do if it’s gonna try and bring you down it’s corny it’s simple doesn’t take anytime blood
it’s crazy powerful and the last thing that the last broadway stages the delta state this when you’re totally unconscious associated with
healing and recovery and really the best way to harness said i know where to run out of time here but its worth talking about because it sort of the ultimate slow down to
to get faster slow yourself down to get better results.
Is that you need to get a good nights sleep but your brain when you’re great when you go to sleep and you get some decent quality sleep.
That’s what’s necessary for your body and your brain to begin the healing and recovery process days.
If a person is looking for a gum.
The closest thing but i know what i just up a magic box of no use as it were.
[55:48] Just get some sleep.
It does so much for your energy and your performance and your focus in your class ready and your calm and your ability to deal with people
get a proper night’s sleep and watch the different this is now starting to actually catch on and board rooms and in the high performance community and it’s nice to see.
Where hot shot executives and some of the wealthy people in the world are now starting to wear eight hours of sleep as a badge of honor is suppose to send select in three weeks time so awesome.
Or on the go to thing is that learning happens when you sleep there for sticks because what i love about this book is done.
The whole idea slowing down and go doc if you put everything in the right place and understand this then we can i see build a park in a way that works for your questions module that’s what use the term delicate.
Where time but there was one really important thing on this is a message for everybody listening is not.
[56:46] We have these default loads for reasonably share this because it doesn’t mean everybody is broken doesn’t mean that were unfolding you just mean that we’ve made mistakes.
[56:55] If we understand that the default mode for a positive reason then we can understand we can she use them to our benefits.
Rate this is something that everybody needs to be aware of is what we call your brains on the helpful default settings,
give people talk about your brain is like the most miraculous on complex computer ever invented and and and really is true and like a computer your brain has
default settings wiring issues that we sort of program are three big ones that we always talk about with your clients that are with paul and helpful what is actually is it,
it’s me the people are broken certainly not damaged beyond repair these are just wiring issues that we all come programmed with
where is you’re not dealing with some productivity they can’t really prevent you from getting what we want to go to the reason that they’re there is because they are great survival mechanism stripes on a map for you in just a second but all three of the default settings that will discuss,
if you that if you lived in the wilderness like as a hunter gather these are fantastic for keeping you alive,
what in terms of being a high performance individual in today’s world,
there are productive so yeah i was given a table number one is that the human brain
has this strong tendency to over emphasize and negatives and under emphasize positive.
[58:21] Where are really hard wired to be hyper hyper sensitive
turn the corner and quote negative influences that we encounter and we almost like a normal or dismiss them or positive helpful input that we received i’m
then again if you go back it said cuba but so in terms of if you lived in the wilderness.
[58:42] This isn’t very helpful piece of wire in right because if you live in the wilderness as a hunter gather.
I’m recording called negative input is really negative like it’s a grizzly bear that’s actively trying to kill you when he and if u live in the wilderness there’s that
what did you got things that are actively trying to kill you if you around every corner,
so in that scenario the individual who is wired to be more sensitive to light back,
is actually better equipped to deal with the threat right the spot it sooner than 4 the other head start and will be always in a way that they can i not die,
that’s great if you live in the wilderness the issue is that we dont live in the wilderness we live in.
[59:30] Que girls and officers and board rooms in hotels in holmes and we still leaving at level of hostile environment anymore and so that’s why i can sort of turn on us
and i can create a number of a bunch of dynamics that would really drain your energy creates sculptures of negativity it creates constant worry that’s counter productive it causes problems so
that’s number one.
Yes we got this default setting where we over emphasized negative in wonderland this is possible the second one i mentioned people crazy is we have this tendency your brain is easily consumed.
What’s the urgent matter at the expense of the important matter usually consume.
What’s the agenda the expensive the important i think most of the listeners i m sure have this book february a vino urgent vs important.
[1:00:23] Well your brain is wired to be just totally consumed with the urgent think of rain as hardware to take your focus and just direct that focus.
Just little whatever stupid thing just popped up in front of your face because it just popped up in front of me but does not matter what it is that pops up and running and face it also doesn’t matter how critically important what you were previously doing is.
Whatever is popping fundamentals world that’s what’s gonna get your attention right again i feel like dinner we’ll dance that’s helpful because if you are in the situation where a grizzly bear wants to eat you,
i promise the grizzly bear wants to eat you now right he’s not sending you out raise that send you a calendar invite to like the next week,
what’s happening right now so you need to know that right now you take action right now what i know is to us in our lives.
Is this tendency e.
[1:01:20] Just think about how easily and quickly your mind becomes distracted like i can be working on the most important thing in the world.
And like a cat walks by your window in bold springs off different direction i learned this recently it takes your brain because of this wiring it takes your brain about a thousand a second to get off track to get distracted from something that you doing.
And then it’s going to take somewhere between four and twenty minutes for your brain to re engage with what you were doing previously and creates this huge energy drains so,
it’s not fair black it is reality your brain is wired to distract you need to do some button that help with setting we talk wednesday your brain craves safety of progress,
i crave safety over progress everybody of course special your listeners want to make progress
right amount by walk to any of your listeners and said hey would you like next year to be better than this you’re dumb as everybody wants to make progress logically
but biological your brain actually crave safety witch.
[1:02:31] Makes sense if you live in the wilderness trying to live in the wilderness your physical safety has to be your number one priority at all times because im not let down your guard that’s what your gunna getting there.
What in our world now would you would actually want to do is take the word safety and substitute it with the words familiarity.
[1:02:54] The reason why people and organizations gravitate so strongly.
Choose the activities and the patterns that are familiar and comfortable.
[1:03:06] Is because your brain actually receive those things as safe.
And your brain craves that safety this is why are the people in organizations resistant to change the wiring the creator comfort zone witch
you know it’s ultimately is not wrong to have comfort zone it’s just that no good rolls happens inside your comfort zone everything that we do that creates progress leaves outside of that comfort zone
what your brain always wants to choose the conference so you have to be working on that
that was one of the beautiful lines that i took from this from innovation disruption perspective is logically you want progress
book my laundry play your brain crave safety is the challenge for the transformation weather be organizational or personal
roger where can people find it more but you do coaching you work with organizations that after working people find out more about your work.
